Not every mole needs removal. Changing, bleeding or newly atypical lesions should be examined first.
When to get a mole examined
Book a review for a mole that is changing, itching, bleeding, or looks different from your others. Cosmetic removal of a stable mole is a separate discussion after examination.
If removal is advised
The method depends on size and site. Some specimens are sent for laboratory analysis. A small scar is possible. Wound-care instructions will be given.
A biopsy or removal is a diagnostic or therapeutic step—not proof of a serious diagnosis by itself.
