Pigmentation Treatment in Pune: Why Diagnosis Comes First
8 Mar 2026 · 6 min · Prohealth Care Clinic
Sun spots, melasma and post-inflammatory marks need different approaches. Laser is not automatically the right step.
Not all dark patches are the same
Melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and sun-related spots can look similar in a mirror. Treating the wrong type—especially with aggressive energy-based devices—can sometimes worsen colour.
A skin specialist looks at pattern, history of pregnancy or hormones, and prior peels or lasers before suggesting a plan.
Building a cautious plan
Sun protection is the foundation. Topical care may be used for months. Laser pigmentation treatment is considered only when the pigment type is appropriate.
Recurrence is possible with sun, heat or hormones. Maintenance is part of long-term care, not a failure of the first session.
